UK youth unemployment has hit an eleven-year high. 987,000 young people aged 16-24 are not in work or education right now including an even more worrying 600,000 ‘economically inactive’ who aren’t seeking change. This is something that directly or indirectly affects us all.
The Spear Programme is award-winning training that has been externally verified as among the most effective in the UK at tackling youth unemployment. 10,500 young people have joined the Spear Programme since it started with just one centre in Hammersmith in 2001. There are currently 17 Spear centres across the UK and 75% of those who complete the programme not only enter work or education, but are still there a year later.
Resurgo is working to extend its reach to the most deprived areas of the UK. Ambitious goals this year include launching our first regional hub in Leeds to widen our reach in the North of England, and to open two more Spear centres bringing the total to 19.
